Get to know our family businesses, the YellowPower Ski School and SunUp Sports in Sölden and us, the Gurschler family.

We, Lisi and Herbert Gurschler, made our dream come true 29 years ago and founded our ski school in 1994 under the name "Ötztal 2000". The know-how and experience that Herbert gained over the years in various ski schools at home and abroad were the best prerequisites for this.

At the beginning, we were a small team with 20 ski instructors. Over time, our team grew to around 50 ski and snowboard instructors, supported by around 20 temporary workers during peak season. The Ötztal 2000 ski school eventually became the “Skischule YellowPower Sölden”, and this name has stayed with us to this day.  

In 1996, we welcomed our first daughter Marie-Theres into the world. She was already on skis by the age of two. Today, she is a state-certified ski instructor, ski guide, and state-certified snowboard instructor. She is an integral part of the YellowPower ski school and plays an active role in the organizational aspects of the business. Marie-Theres completed a sports and economics degree in 2023 and qualified for the IRON MAN World Championship in Hawaii.

In 1997, our second daughter Anna-Lena was born. Anna-Lena also learned to ski as soon as she could walk. Together with Marie-Theres, she has completed various ski instructor training courses and is a state-certified ski instructor, snowboard instructor, ski guide, and cross-country skiing instructor. She is actively involved in the Yellow Power ski school and is responsible for organizing the ski school on the mountain. Anna-Lena is also an experienced freerider and successfully competes in international competitions.

In 1999, we celebrated the birth of our youngest daughter, Kathrine (affectionately called Ini). Ini has already successfully completed her studies in sports management and is currently studying sports sciences. During the holidays, she supports our family as a ski instructor.

The YellowPower team fosters a family-friendly atmosphere. Elisabeth, "the brain", stays in the background and organizes the entire ski school and ensures that business runs smoothly with the help of her daughters Marie-Theres and Anna-Lena. Herbert can be found on the slopes every day. He is responsible for dividing the guests into groups at the meeting point, gives private ski lessons, and supports the team in the children’s area.

To this day, Herbert remains true to his philosophy of teaching skiing individually in small groups with a maximum of 8 people. The focus is primarily children and youth, who can learn to ski in a playful way in our ski school from the age of 3. In the children’s area in the Giggijoch ski area, our specially trained childcare supervisors take care of the little skiers.

We place great importance on high-quality instruction for skiers, snowboarders, cross-country skiers, and snowshoers and offer group and individual courses. Deep snow enthusiasts will also get their money’s worth here. Our state-certified ski and mountain guides use their know-how about skiing technique, the surroundings, and the terrain to offer unforgettable freeriding and touring experiences on the summits of the Ötztal and Stubaier Alps.
